Use of Lakes and Roads

                                                            Motorboat Registration Form

  1. All State of Connecticut boating laws will be enforced  
  2. No boats over 18 feet in length will be allowed at the lake 
  3. No cabin boats are permitted on the lake  
  4. Boat speed on the lake will be restricted to a maximum of 25 M.P.H.  
  5. All power boats must maintain a distance of 100 feet from the shore wherever possible  
  6. All boats proceed in a counter-clockwise direction whenever possible  
  7. No more than 2 skiers may be towed behind one boat on Saturday's, Sunday's, and Holiday's. (More than two are permitted on weekdays, provided an escort boat is following)  
  8. All members must display Lake Bunggee permit numbers on their gas/electric power boats. These numbers are issued by the Safety and/or Lake and Beaches Chairpersons. 
  9. No member may have more than 2 boats operating on the lake at one time  
  10. No outside boats are allowed on the lake. (The D.E.P. boats in exempt from this rule)  
  11. All guest boats must have a permit in order to operate on the lake
    1. Permits are issued by the Safety Officer upon request of a property owner
    2. Permits are normally issued for a 24-hour period
    3. A maximum permit of one week will be issued in the case of a rental  
  12. All swimmers must stay in the designated swimming areas, which shall be within 100 feet of the shore, unless accompanied by a boat  
  13. No floats shall be allowed more than 100 feet from the shore
    (A float is a personal floatation device filled with air or foam)  
  14. No rafts shall be allowed more than 75 feet from the shore
    (A raft is a floating platform made of construction material and anchored in position)  
  15. In order to keep "outsiders" from using lake beaches, individuals may be asked to identify themselves as lake property owners  
  16. The lake will be lowered beginning October 14th each year. The Willimantic Watershed Commission and the D.E.P. will be notified thirty (30) days prior to the lake being lowered, A notice shall be placed on the bus stop and in the Putnam newspaper prior to the lake being lowered. As a matter of courtesy the Witches Woods directors will be notified  
  17. No cars may be parked on the traveled portion of lake roads  
  18. The maximum speed for all vehicles on lake roads is 15 M.P.H. 
  19. No unregistered vehicles are allowed passage on lake roads, or allowed to be stored by members on their property  
  20. All property owners must remove brush from their property within 10 feet of traveled way  
  21. All buildings erected on the lake must adhere to the following location requirements
    1. Side line distance of eight feet must be maintained
    2. Buildings must be thirty feet from the street line
    3. Buildings must be a minimum of 25 feet from the high water line  
  22. Pet dogs are not permitted in swimming areas, on beaches, or playgrounds at any time. All dogs must be kept caged or on leashes and all other inclusions of the Connecticut State Statue  
  23. All guests, when using the beaches or the lake, must be accompanied by an Association member  
  24. All motor vehicles must be driven by licensed drivers  
  25. All rules and regulations will be enforced by the Board of Directors and/or by person or persons so designated by the Board of Directors. Enforcement will consist of one written warning; second offense for the same infraction will result in a $50.00 fine. There will be a $50.00 fine each citation issued. All fines are payable within 60 days of the citation date. Grievance hearings will be conducted at the monthly Board of Directors meeting. The Board of Directors decision will be final. Non-payment of a fine(s) will result in that fine(s) being added to that property owners next Lake Bunggee tax statement.  
  26. No animals or poultry, except household pets, shall be allowed on Lake District Property  
  27. Use of recreational vehicles (motorbikes, snowmobiles ATV's) and non-fishing motor boats is allowed only between the hours of 8:00AM and 9:00PM. Dirt bikes and ATV's are not allowed on Lake roads. All vehicles used on lake roads must be street legal.  
  28. No boats or docks are to be moored on common property  
  29. Evening beach parties must have permission from the district President, and must be properly supervised  
  30. Beaches are closed at 10:00PM  
  31. Jet skies are not allowed on the lake.  
  32. Any easement to cross common property may only be granted by a vote of the Electors at a general or special membership meeting
  33. All septic systems in the Lake Bungee Tax District must be inspected and pumped every three years by a licensed septic contractor 
  34.  Lake Bungee Tax District property owners shall be responsible for supplying their renters with a copy of the Rules and Regulations for the Tax District. The Rules and Regulations are available from the Hospitality Chairperson
